How British Eres Tu?
Written and performed by Victor Rios
A TV show-like show to test us “how British are we?
The Show
Follow the life journey of a migrant who came from the high altitude of the Andes as a young person, embraced the cultural change in Brixton, and now is conflicted on how to identify himself. Is he Bolivian? Is he Latino? Is he British or what is he?
THE JOURNEY
How British Eres Tú?
is a bold, immersive exploration of migration, identity, and belonging. Developed with young and non-traditional theatre audiences in mind, the show follows Victor’s journey from the Andes to Brixton, blending memory, video mapping, and sharp new writing to ask: Who gets to decide what being British really means?
The project began as a DYCP grant from Arts Council England, then proved its resonance with diverse audiences during the Engine Room at Omnibus Theatre. It later featured at La Feria by LUMA Creations in Liverpool, showcasing its touring potential and national relevance.
In late 2024, it became part of the Housemates programme at Brixton House, where it was further developed into a full run, culminating in a successful, sold-out week of performances.
How British Eres Tú? speaks to young people, migrants, global majority communities, and British-born audiences, challenging all to reflect on what it really means to be British. Using the Life in the UK Test, the show exposes the contradictions of national identity and colonial legacy.
We also offer a post-show talk on the creative process, focusing on video mapping and behind-the-scenes development.
Testimonials
Thanks to Victor for the first time, I laughed thinking about pre-settle and settlement status: immigrants’ nightmare, mine included. He also explores the unfairness of citizenship exams where they asked questions that nor the British know! When he asked them to the public that was a palpable fright.”

I loved it. I’m also international, and have heard so many people thinking about this UK test as absurd!! The funniest part was when he did the quiz!
